Logging Museum, Algonquin Provincial Park

This large log cabin is historically known as a “camboose shanty”, notice the absence of windows.  Many Canadian farmers would spend the winter in one of these logging camps and work dusk till dawn, it would be dark when they left and dark when they returned.

Imagine hand hewing or squaring these massive logs with a simple Broad Axe.
