A vintage steam powered locomotive, circa 1910
The William M, one of only three well preserved amphibious tugboats in existence, known as an “Alligator”. This steam powered vessel is on display at the Algonquin Logging Museum in Algonquin Provincial Park, Ontario, Canada.
The Willem M’s cast iron boiler.
The captain’s bridge, it doesn’t get any more basic.
This large log cabin is historically known as a “camboose shanty”, notice the absence of windows. Many Canadian farmers would spend the winter in one of these logging camps and work dusk till dawn, it would be dark when they left and dark when they returned.
Imagine hand hewing or squaring these massive logs with a simple Broad Axe.
