A yellow-bellied Sapsucker on a Maple. I’ve been a little busy with some spring renovation projects as of late, unfortunately my photography has suffered and haven’t been able to post any new images as of late. But here is a recent shot of a very cooperative woodpecker at 300MM on a full frame body with very little cropping required.
Winnipeg is fortunate to have a large urban forest within the city, known as Assiniboine Forest along with a fairly large deer population. Unfortunately I see a lot of car/wildlife collisions of the deer as the city continues to expand around the forest. These deer are very used to people, this was shot at 200mm on full-frame, they moved off just before the third deer popped its head up, which was the shot I was really hoping for.
Muddy face of a Tamworth Pig at FortWhyte Alive, Winnipeg, Canada.
Another captive Barn Owl portrait from Fort Whyte Centre in Winnipeg. I was hoping to get some catchlight in this guys eyes with this background, but he just wouldn’t cooperate. I did manage to get front lit shots with eye catchlight but with a boring blue sky background.
A Plains Bison, shedding his winter coat
A black bear taking a brief break while fishing for salmon on Thornton Creek, Vancouver Island
Another Bighorn shot posing in front of a nice painterly background in Banff National Park.
Being a dog lover and owner I’ve yet to post a single photo of our feline friends, but this one might have been well worth the wait.
Curious goat at a petting zoo, near Quebec City
Came across this goofball in a Canmore pet store and being a dog lover couldn’t resist. I carry a couple fast indoor prime lenses for images just like this when not out shooting landscapes.
