American White Pelican warming his wings on a rock in the Red River.   These large birds frequent the Red River and Lake Winnipeg, particularly easy to see near Lockport, Manitoba.  Shot a few years back in the summer, another uncovered old image, that was never processed.

Windblown trees on the Pacific Coast, while hiking the Wild Pacific Trail.  The trail offers some truly breathtaking vistas, and is a fairly easy hike if you don’t mind the relentless rain.  That’s not to say you won’t get beautiful sunny weather, but don’t plan on it.  However, without the heavy rainfall and onshore winds this lush, windblown coastal rainforest wouldn’t exist.

On a recent trip to Long Beach on the west coast of Vancouver Island, we headed out in the morning to photograph the surfer’s that the beach is renowned for.  But, what often happens, a heavy fog moved in and changed everything, probably for the better in this case.   The ordinary became the extraordinary, when we came across this very cute little girl with her mother and dog, who made the most of their visit to the Pacific Ocean beach.

Angus, overjoyed that he got to dress up like Santa.   Normally I don’t much care for setup or studio animal photography, but my wife thought it would make for a nice family Christmas card, so after stopping by the local dollar store here is the result.  Not exactly a hallmark card, but he pretty much has this expression 99 % of the time.  Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

About 3 months sitting outside…

In his element at a nearby park, 4 months and 1 week at this point.  Calling him a ‘giant’ may be a slight exaggeration.  We met both his parents, so are well aware of his size potential, but nevertheless his growth rate is really something to experience.   He has a very calm, easy going disposition, loves people and other dogs, and is also already exhibiting his guardian tendencies around the house.

My wife has a food blog and I do the majority of the photography for her.  The Kale Smoothie pictured above  is a  recent concoction made with one of her favorite gadgets, the Magic Bullet.  It might not look that appetizing to some, but it tastes great and is basically a new age superfood.  I won’t go into detail about the health benefits of such a drink, but Kale is an amazing vegetable, and for someone like myself, who doesn’t get enough fruits and vegetables this is a terrific way to get your daily requirement.  Best of all it’s very easy and quick to make, even a guy who completely lacks any culinary skill like myself, can blend up one of these.
